For low level cooks, pemmican is a good way to gain more cooking experience using the same amount of ingredients.Įven once your characters can make fine meals, I still like to grind cooking experience with pemmican, because I know it won't go to waste. Either way, I've got a steady supply of meat, and I also have a surplus of veggies (in my current game, not in all games). I'm going out hunting anyway in order to keep shooting skills sharp, or I'm simply dealing with manhunters. You might as well just let the meat rot at that point, trying to "save" it and turn it into pemmican is a huge time sink for no real benefit. Grow some rice/corn, keep a stack of 10 or so pure vege simple meals, it's much more efficient. You don't have a lot of choice with meat as a fresh tribal, but for that reason it's not worth hunting or spending any effort on getting any meat.
